Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9465 — Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud said: O Mahdi, how

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي حُصَيْنٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا مَهْدِيُّ إِذَا ظُهِرَ لِخِيَارِكُمْ وَاسْتُعْمِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحْدَاثُكُمْ، أَوْ أَشْرَارُكُمْ، وَصُلِّيَتِ الصَّلَاةُ لِغَيْرِ مِيقَاتِهَا؟» قُلْتُ: لَا أَدْرِي، قَالَ: «لَا تَكُنْ جَابِيًا، وَلَا عَرِيفًا، وَلَا شُرَطَيًّا، وَلَا بَرِيدًا، وَصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِمِيقَاتِهَا»
Mahdi reports that Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Mahdi, how will you be when your best people are overpowered, and your young ones or your wicked ones are appointed as rulers over you, and the prayer is performed outside its proper time?" I said: I do not know. He said: "Do not be a tax collector, nor an 'arif (government overseer), nor a policeman, nor a courier, and pray the prayer at its proper time."
