Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9216 — a man was suffering from smallpox, so

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبَانُ، عَنِ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ بِهِ جُدَرِيٌّ، «فَأَمَرَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقُرِّبَ تُرَابٌ فِي طَسْتٍ - أَوْ تَوْرٍ - فَتَمَسَّحَ بِالتُّرَابِ»
Alqamah narrates that a man was suffering from smallpox, so Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that some earth be brought in a basin - or a vessel - and then he wiped himself with that earth (performing tayammum).
