Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9059 — Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud said to me

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي عَبْدُ اللهِ: «هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَفَدَةٌ؟» قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، هُمْ حُفَّادُ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ وَوَلَدِ وَلَدِهِ، قَالَ: «لَا هُمُ الْأَصْهَارُ»
Zirr bin Hubaysh said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Do you know what hafadah are?" I said: Yes, they are a man's children and his children's children. He said: "No, they are the in-laws."
