Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9055 — When only those remain in Hell who are

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ: عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: " إِذَا بَقِيَ فِي النَّارِ مَنْ يُخَلَّدُ فِيهَا جُعِلُوا فِي تَوَابِيتَ مِنْ نَارٍ فِيهَا مَسَامِيرُ مِنْ نَارٍ - قَالَ: ذَلِكَ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا - فَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَحَدًا فِي النَّارِ يُعَذَّبُ غَيْرُهُمْ "، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: {لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يَسْمَعُونَ} [الأنبياء: ١٠٠]
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When only those remain in Hell who are to abide in it forever, they will be placed in coffins of fire in which there are nails of fire" - the narrator said: he repeated this two or three times - "then they will not see anyone in Hell being punished except themselves." Then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: "For them therein is groaning, and therein they will not hear" [Surah al-Anbiya: 100].
