Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9053 — It reached Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ، قَالَ: بَلَغَ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ، يَقُولُ: {وَآتَيْنَاهُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ} [الأنبياء: ٨٤] ، قَالَ: أَتَى أَهْلًا غَيْرَ أَهْلِهِ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: «بَلْ أَتَى بِأَهْلِهِ بِأَعْيَانِهِمْ وَمِثْلِهِمْ مَعَهُمْ»
Al-Dahhak bin Muzahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It reached Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that Marwan was saying, regarding the saying of Allah Almighty: "And We gave him his family and the like of them with them" [Surah al-Anbiya: 84], that he was given a family other than his original family. So Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No, rather he was given back his very own family themselves, and the like of them with them as well."
