حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا فِطْرُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ صُبَيْحٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مَسْرُوقًا، يَقُولُ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: " خَمْسٌ قَدْ مَضَيْنَ: الدُّخَانُ، وَالْقَمَرُ، وَالرُّومُ، وَالْبَطْشَةُ، وَاللِّزَامُ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Five things have already passed: the smoke, the (splitting of the) moon, al-Rum (the defeat of the Romans), the great assault (Badr), and al-Lizam (the inevitable punishment)."
