أسعد بن زرارة الأنصاري من بني النجار " ويكنى أبا أمامة، توفي على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في سنة إحدى من الهجرة "
As'ad bin Zurarah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), of Banu al-Najjar: his kunyah was Abu Umamah, and he died in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the first year after the Hijrah

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ هَارُونَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُلَيْحٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ " فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ: أَبُو أُمَامَةَ أَسْعَدُ بْنُ زُرَارَةَ، وَهُوَ نَقِيبٌ "
Ibn Shihab said: Among those of the Ansar, and then of Banu al-Najjar, who were present at al-Aqabah, is this name: Abu Umamah Sayyiduna As'ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he was a leader (naqib).
