حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي شَمْخِ بْنِ فَزَارَةَ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً، ثُمَّ رَأَى أُمَّهَا، وَأَعْجَبَتْهُ فَاسْتَفْتَى ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُفَارِقَهَا ثُمَّ يَتَزَوَّجَ أُمَّهَا، فَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَوَلَدَتْ أَوْلَادًا، ثُمَّ أَتَى ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ لَهُ فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ قَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ: «إِنَّهَا عَلَيْكَ حَرَامٌ فَفَارَقَهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from Banu Shamkh bin Fazarah married a woman, then he saw her mother and was attracted to her. So he asked Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) for a ruling, and he ordered him to divorce his wife and then marry her mother. So the man married her (the mother), and she bore him children. Then Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah and asked about this issue, and he was told that she was not lawful for him. So when he returned to Kufah, he said to the man: "She is unlawful for you, so leave her."
