Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8354 — the Prophet ﷺ said: Fasting is a shield

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْحَجَبِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ يَسْتَجِنُّ بِهَا الْعَبْدُ مِنَ النَّارِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fasting is a shield by which the servant protects himself from the Fire."
