حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الصَّقْرِ السُّكَّرِيُّ، ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْمَازِنِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الْعَطَّارِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: دُعِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ إِلَى طَعَامٍ فَقِيلَ: هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا هَذَا؟ هَذَا خِتَانُ جَارِيَةٍ، فَقَالَ: «هَذَا شَيْءٌ مَا كُنَّا نَرَاهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) was invited to a meal, and he was told: "Do you know what this is? This is (a feast for) the circumcision of a girl." He said: "This is something we did not see in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So he refused to eat.
