Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8346 — The last advice the Prophet ﷺ gave me was

حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ، قَالَا: ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، قَالَ: كَانَ آخِرُ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «صَلِّ بِأَصْحَابِكَ صَلَاةَ أَضْعَفِهِمْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الْكَبِيرَ، وَالضَّعِيفَ، وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ، وَاتَّخِذْ مُؤَذِّنًا لَا يَأْخُذُ عَلَى الْأَذَانِ أَجْرًا»
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The last advice the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me was that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Lead your companions in prayer according to the weakest of them, for among them are the elderly, the weak and those with needs; and appoint a mu'adhdhin who does not take a wage for the call to prayer (adhan)."
