Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 816 — I was a poet, so I came to the Prophet ﷺ

Sayyiduna al-Aswad bin Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was a poet, so I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not recite to you the praises with which I have praised my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your Lord loves praise." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not ask me to recite more.
