Sayyiduna al-Aswad bin Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to recite poetry to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I did not know his Companions, until a broad-shouldered, bald man came, and I was told: "Be quiet, be quiet!" I said: "Woe is me! Who is this for whom I must be quiet in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" It was said: "This is Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab." By Allah! I came to know afterwards that, had he heard me, it would have been easy for him, without speaking a word to me, to seize me by the leg and drag me to al-Baqi'.
