حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ عِيسَى الرَّاسِبِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: «كَانَ خِضَابُنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَرْسُ وَالزَّعْفَرَانُ»
Abu Malik al-Ashja'i narrates from his father: "In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), our dye was wars (a yellow plant dye) and saffron."
