حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو التَّنُّورِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمَأْرِبِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سُمَيِّ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ شَرَاحِيلَ، عَنْ شُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبْيَضَ بْنِ حَمَّالٍ، أَنَّهُ وَفَدَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَقْطِعُهُ الْمِلْحَ، فَأَقْطَعَهُ إِيَّاهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، تَدْرِي مَا أَقْطَعْتَهُ الْمَاءَ الْعِدَّ فَأَرْجَعَهُ مِنْهُ، وَسَأَلْتُهُ مَا يُحْمَى مِنَ الْأَرَاكِ؟ قَالَ: «مَا لَمْ تَبْلُغْهُ أَخْفَافُ الْإِبِلِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hammal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came as a delegate to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) for the salt land, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it to him. Then a man said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! Do you know what you have given him? It is flowing water!" So he (peace and blessings be upon him) took it back. The narrator said: And I asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) how much of the arak may be protected. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever the feet of the camels do not reach."
