حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، ثنا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ الشَّامِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي غَالِبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ غَسَّلَ مَيِّتًا، فَكَتَمَ عَلَيْهِ طَهَّرَهُ اللهُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ، فَإِنْ كَفَّنَهُ كَسَاهُ اللهُ مِنَ السُّنْدُسِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever washes a deceased person and keeps his faults covered, Allah will purify him of his sins; and if he also shrouds him, Allah will clothe him with the silk of Paradise."
