It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I entered Paradise and heard a faint footstep in front of me. I said: Who is this, O Jibril? He said: This is Bilal, the mu'adhdhin. Then I looked, and most of the people of Paradise were the weak and the poor, and the fewest of the people of Paradise were the rich and the women. I asked: O Jibril! What is this? He said: The rich are held back at the gate of Paradise, being brought to account and examined. As for the women, the two red things, gold and silk, kept them occupied. Then I went out towards the eight gates of Paradise, and there was a Scale. One of its pans was taken and my whole Ummah was placed in it, and I was placed in the other pan, and I outweighed them. Then my Ummah was presented to me man by man, and I found Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) slow in coming. When he came, I asked: What held you back? He wept before me, and I wept before him. He said: O Messenger of Allah! I was there behind the gate, being brought to account and examined, until I thought that I would never see you and you would never see me."
