Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7869 — he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْحَذَّاءُ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا طَهَّرَهُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ» . قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا طَهُورُ الْعَبْدِ؟ قَالَ: «عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ يُلْهِمُهُ إِيَّاهُ، حَتَّى يَقْبِضَهُ عَلَيْهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When Allah intends good for a servant, He purifies him before his death." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the purification of the servant? He said: "A righteous deed which he is enabled to do, until his soul is taken upon it."
