Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7855 — Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum came; he was

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) came; he was blind, and he is the one concerning whom this verse was revealed: "He frowned and turned away because the blind man came to him" [Surah Abasa: 2]. He was a man of Quraysh. He came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, as you see, I have grown old, my bones have become weak, and my sight has gone, and I have a guide who does not cooperate with me in leading me (to the mosque). So do you find any concession for me to pray the prayers in my house? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Can you hear the call to prayer (adhan) from your house?" He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not find any concession for you. If this person who stays behind from the prayer in congregation knew what (reward) there is for the one who walks to it, he would surely come to it, even if he had to crawl on his hands and feet."
