Ayyub (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abu Qilabah (may Allah have mercy on him) said to me: He (the Companion from Banu Amir) is alive, so meet him and hear the hadith from him. Ayyub said: So I met the Amiri, and he told me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out some horsemen, and they raided the camels of a neighbour of ours and took them away. Then someone went regarding that - he said either: my father, or he said: my paternal uncle, or he said: a close relative of his - and came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about that matter. He said: I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was eating, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come, have some food." I said: I am fasting. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come, I will tell you about that: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has relieved the traveller of fasting and half of the prayer, and the pregnant woman" - or he said: "the nursing woman" - and he ordered that the camels be returned. Whenever he narrated this hadith, he would express regret and say: If only I had eaten from the food of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!
