حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصُّورِيُّ، ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ غَيْلَانَ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَابْنُ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا، وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ عَلَى أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بِحِمْصَ فَسَلَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ مَجْلِسَكُمْ هَذَا مِنْ إِبْلَاغِ اللهِ لَكُمْ، واحْتِجَاجِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ قَدْ بَلَّغَ فَبَلِّغُوا»
Makhul (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: I, Ibn Abi Zakariyya and Sulayman bin Habib went to Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Hims. We greeted him with salam, and he said: This gathering of yours is part of Allah's conveying (the message) to you and establishing His proof against you. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has conveyed (the religion), so you too convey it onward.
