حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَكْرٍ السَّرَّاجِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّرْجُمَانِيُّ، ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُدْرِكٍ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ: «تَمَامُ الرِّبَاطِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا، وَمَنْ رَابَطَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا لَمْ يَبِعْ وَلَمْ يَشْتَرِ، وَلَمْ يُحْدِثْ حَدَثًا خَرَجَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Complete guarding of the frontier (ribat) is forty days. Whoever guards the frontier for forty days, without buying or selling and without committing any sin, will emerge from his sins as on the day his mother gave birth to him."
