حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ الصُّورِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجَمَاهِرِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْهَدِيَّةِ صِلَةً بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، وَيَقُولُ: «لَوْ قَدْ أَسْلَمَ النَّاسُ تَهَادَوْا مِنْ غَيْرِ جُوعٍ»
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order the giving of gifts to strengthen the ties between people, and he would say: "If people were to accept Islam, they would give gifts to one another without (being driven by) hunger (and need)."
