حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يُونُسَ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ أَرْطَاةَ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ، فَلَمْ يُوجَدْ لَهُ كَفَنٌ، فَأَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ، فَقَالَ: «انْظُرُوا إِلَى دَاخِلَةِ إِزَارِهِ» فَأُصِيبَ دِينَارٌ أَوْ دِينَارَانِ، فَقَالَ: «كَيَّتَانِ صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبَكُمْ» ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: إِلَيَّ قَضَاؤُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man died in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and no shroud could be found for him. So the people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Look inside his waist-wrapper." One or two dinars were found in it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(These are) two brands. Pray the funeral prayer over your companion." At this a man said: O Messenger of Allah, paying his debt is my responsibility. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) led the funeral prayer over him.
