Kab al-Ahbar from Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him)
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7269 — Sayyiduna Suhayb told me, saying

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ الْقِيلِيُّ، ثنا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْوَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُغِيثٍ، عَنْ كَعْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي صُهَيْبٌ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ يَدْعُو يَقُولُ: «اللهُمَّ إِنَّكَ لَسْتَ بِإِلَهٍ اسْتَحْدَثْنَاهُ، وَلَا بِرَبٍّ ابْتَدَعْنَاهُ، وَلَا كَانَ لَنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَهٌ نَلْجَأُ إِلَيْهِ، وَنَذَرُكَ، وَلَا أَعَانَكَ عَلَى خَلْقِنَا أَحَدٌ، فَنُشْرِكَهُ فِيكَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ» قَالَ كَعْبٌ: وَهَكَذَا كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ دَاوُدُ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ يَدْعُو
Ka'b al-Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) told me, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make this supplication: "O Allah, You are not a deity whom we newly devised, nor a lord whom we invented; nor did we have, before You, any deity to whom we would turn for refuge and abandon You; nor did anyone help You in creating us, that we should associate him with You. Blessed are You and exalted." Ka'b (may Allah have mercy on him) said: And this is how Allah's Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him) used to supplicate.
