حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادٍ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ شَيْبَانَ أَنَّهُ غَدَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَى بَعْضِ حُجَرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَهُ، فَقَالَ: «أَبَا يَحْيَى» قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «ادْخُلْ» فَدَخَلَ، فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَغَذَّى، فَقَالَ: «هَلُمَّ إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ» فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ , قَالَ: «وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ، إِنَّ مُؤَذِّنَنَا فِي بَصَرِهِ سُوءٌ، أَذَّنَ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ»
Yahya bin Abbad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Shayban (may Allah be pleased with him), that he went to the mosque early in the morning and sat beside one of the apartments of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) heard his voice and said: "Abu Yahya!" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come in." So he went in, and there was the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) eating a meal, and he said: "Come and have the meal." He said: O Messenger of Allah! I intend to fast. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I too intend to fast. Our mu'adhdhin has weak eyesight; he called the adhan before dawn."
