Shaqiq said: A man sent some dirhams with me as a gift to the House (the Ka'bah). I entered the House while Shaybah (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting on a chair, and I handed them to him. He said: Are these yours? I said: No, and if they were mine I would not have brought them to you. He said: Since you have said that, know that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) sat in the very place where you are sitting, and he said: I will not leave until I have distributed what is in the Ka'bah among the poor of the Muslims. I said: You will not do that. He said: I certainly will; and why (do you say) that? I said: Because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw its place, and so did Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and they were both more in need of this wealth than you, yet they did not touch it. So he stood up just as he was and went out.
