حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ وَارَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَذْكُرُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهُوَ يَجُودُ بِنَفْسِهِ , فَقَالَ: «مَالَكَ يَا شَدَّادُ؟» قَالَ: ضَاقَتْ بِيَ الدُّنْيَا، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ، إِنَّ الشَّامَ يُفْتَحُ، وَيُفْتَحُ بَيْتُ الْمَقْدِسِ، فَتَكُونُ أَنْتَ وَوَلَدُكَ أَئِمَّةً فِيهِمْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he himself was at the point of death. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Shaddad, what is the matter with you?" He said: The world has become narrow for me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no harm upon you. Sham will be conquered, and Bayt al-Maqdis will be conquered, and you and your children will be imams among them, if Allah wills."
