حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُزَيْقِ بْنِ جَامِعٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى السَّيْنَائِيُّ، عَنِ الْجُعَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ إِذْ جَاءَهُ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، وَفِي وَجْهِهِ أَثَرُ السُّجُودِ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ هَذَا؟» قِيلَ: الزُّبَيْرُ قَالَ: «لَقَدْ أَفْسَدَ هَذَا وَجْهَهُ، أَمَا وَاللهِ، مَا هِيَ السِّيمَاءُ الَّتِي سَمَّاهَا اللهُ، وَلَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَى وَجْهِي ثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً مَا أَثَّرَ السُّجُودُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيَّ»
Ju'ayd bin Abdur-Rahman narrates: I was with Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) when Zubayr bin Suhayl bin Abdur-Rahman bin Awf came to him, and there was a mark of prostration on his face. When he saw him, he asked: Who is this? It was said: It is Zubayr. He said: He has spoiled his face. Listen, by Allah! This is not the mark which Allah has mentioned in the Qur'an. I have prostrated on my face for eighty years, and yet prostration has not left any mark between my eyes.
