حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ رَاهَوَيْهِ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصَفًّى، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: «لَمْ يُقَصَّ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ حَتَّى كَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ قَصَّ تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ، وَاسْتَأْذَنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ، فَقَصَّ قَائِمًا»
Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There was no storytelling in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor in the time of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), until the first to tell stories was Sayyiduna Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him). He sought permission from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave him permission, so he used to preach standing.
