Sayyiduna Sabrah bin Ma'bad al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted us mut'ah in the year of the Conquest of Makkah. So I and another man went to a young woman who was like a young, long-necked she-camel, in order to contract mut'ah with her. We sat in front of her; I had a cloak and he had a cloak. We spoke to her and offered our cloaks as dowry (mahr). I was younger than him, and his cloak was better than mine. She would look at me one time and at his cloak another time; then in the end she accepted me. So I married her and stayed with her for three days. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it, so I left her, or something to that effect.
