حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ الْتَقَطَ وَلَدَ زِنًى، فَجَاءَ بِهِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ: «اذْهَبْ فَاسْتَرْضِعْ بِمَالِ اللهِ، وَلَكَ وَلَاؤُهُ» قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: «وَالرَّجُلُ الَّذِي الْتَقَطَهُ، فَجَاءَ بِهِ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَخْبَرَنِي ذَلِكَ نَفْسَهُ»
Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri narrates that a man told him that he had picked up a child born of fornication and brought him to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "Go and have him nursed with the wealth of Allah (the public treasury), and his wala' (patronage) is yours." Ibn Shihab said: And the man who picked up this child and brought him to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) told me this himself.
