It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwayd Abu Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him); his son Uqbah bin Suwayd relates that he said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about a (stray) sheep. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf." I also asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about a (stray) camel, and whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry, it could be recognised from the redness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) cheeks. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What concern is it of yours? It has its water-skin (its ability to store water in its belly) and its hooves (shoes) with it; it reaches water by itself and goes to the pasture by itself. Leave it until it meets its owner."
I also asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about a found item (luqatah), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Announce it, then tie up its string and its pouch securely. Then, if its owner comes, hand it over to him; otherwise, (afterwards) it is yours to use."
