حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَلْطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا سُوَيْدِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ، قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا نُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَنَا وَائِلُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، فَأَخَذَهُ عَدُوٌّ لَهُ، فَتَحَرَّجَ الْقَوْمُ أَنْ يَحْلِفُوا، فَحَلَفْتُ أَنَّهُ أَخِي، فَخَلَّوْا سَبِيلَهُ، فَأَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ: «صَدَقْتَ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ»
Sayyiduna Suwayd bin Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We set out intending to go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) was with us. An enemy of his seized him, and the people felt it a sin to swear an oath, so I swore that he was my brother, and they let him go. Then we came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I informed him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You spoke the truth; a Muslim is the brother of a Muslim."
