Sayyiduna Safinah (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: I travelled by sea, and the ship I was on broke apart. I climbed onto one of its planks, and the plank carried me into a thicket in which there was a lion. It came towards me, so I said: "O Abu al-Harith! I am the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." It lowered its head and came towards me, pushed me with its shoulder until it brought me out of the thicket, and set me on the road. Then it made a low growling sound, and I thought it was bidding me farewell. That was the last I saw of it.
