حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ مِنْ عِنْدِ امْرَأَةٍ، فَقَالَتْ: مَا عِنْدِي إِلَّا مَاءٌ فِي قِرْبَةٍ مَيْتَةٍ، فَقَالَ: «أَلَيْسَ قَدْ دَبَغْتِهَا؟» قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ ذَكَاتَهَا دِبَاغَتُهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Muhabbiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), during the Battle of Tabuk, asked a woman for water. She said: I have nothing but water in a waterskin made from a dead animal. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you not tanned it?" She said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its slaughter is its tanning."
