Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I came with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from the direction of al-Aqiq, until, when we reached the mountain pass called Thaniyyat al-Hawd, which is in al-Aqiq, he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with his hand towards the east and said: "I am looking at the places of the enemy of Allah, the Masih (al-Dajjal). He will come until he halts at such-and-such a place; then the rabble of the people will go out to him. On every one of the passes of Madinah there will be one or two angels appointed to guard it. He will have two images with him: the image of Paradise, and the image of Hell, which will be red. With him will be devils who will take the forms of the dead; they will say to a living person: Do you recognise me? I am your brother, I am your father, I am your relative; did I not die? This is our Lord, so follow him. Then Allah will decree whatever He wills concerning him. And Allah will send against him a man from among the Muslims, who will silence him and rebuke him and say: O people, this is the liar; let him not deceive you, for he is a liar and speaks falsehood, and your Lord is not one-eyed. Then al-Dajjal will ask: Will you follow me? He will refuse, so he will split him into two pieces, and he will be given the power to do that. Then al-Dajjal will say: I will bring him back to life for you. So Allah will bring him back to life, and he will be more vehement than ever in denying him and the harshest in reviling him. He will say: O people, what you have seen is a trial with which you have been tried and a fitnah with which you have been tested. If he is truthful, let him bring me back (by killing me) once again. Beware, he is a liar! Then al-Dajjal will order that he be cast into this fire, which is (in reality) the image of Paradise. Then al-Dajjal will go out towards Sham."
