حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، حَدَّثَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ بِنْتُ سِيرِينَ، عَنِ الرَّبَابِ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا أَفْطَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى تَمْرٍ إِنْ وَجَدَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَعَلَى الْمَاءِ، فَإِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman bin Amir al-Dabbi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you breaks his fast, let him break it on dates if he finds them; and if he does not find them, then on water, for water is purifying."
