When the time of death came to Sayyiduna Salman al-Khayr (may Allah be pleased with him), the people perceived some distress in him and said: O Abu Abdullah! What has made you so distressed, when you have precedence in goodness, and you took part in great conquests alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: What grieves me is that when our beloved Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) parted from us, he took a covenant from us, saying: "Let it suffice each of you to have provisions like those of a traveller." That is what grieves me. Then, when the possessions of Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) were gathered, their value came to fifteen dirhams.
