Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 6131 — Sayyiduna Hudhayfah was in al-Mada'in

Amr bin Abi Qurrah said: Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) was in al-Mada'in, and he used to mention things that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said in anger about some of his Companions. Some of those who heard these things from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) would go to Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) and mention to him what Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) had said, and Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) would say: Hudhayfah knows best what he is saying. Then they would return to Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) and say: We mentioned this to Salman, and he neither confirmed you nor denied you. So Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was in a tent of his, and said: O Salman! What prevents you from confirming what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would become angry and say something in anger about some of his Companions, and he would fall ill and say something in illness about some of his Companions. Will you not stop until you put into the hearts of some men love for some men, and into the hearts of some men hatred for some men, until you cause disagreement and division? You know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a sermon: "Any man of my Ummah whom I have reviled or cursed in my anger, I am only one of the children of Adam; I become angry just as they become angry. And Allah has sent me only as a mercy to all the worlds, so I will make it a mercy for him on the Day of Resurrection." By Allah, you will stop, or I will write about you to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
