Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 6045 — he came to the Prophet ﷺ with a tray full
حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْكِنَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّهُ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَائِدَةٍ عَلَيْهَا رُطَبٌ، فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذِهِ؟» قَالَ: هَذِهِ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أَصْحَابِكَ، فَقَالَ: «يَا سَلْمَانُ إِنَّا لَا نَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ» ، فَذَهَبَ بِهَا سَلْمَانُ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ جَاءَهُ سَلْمَانُ بِمَائِدَةٍ عَلَيْهَا رُطَبٌ، فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذِهِ الْمَائِدَةُ؟» ، قَالَ: هَذِهِ هَدِيَّةٌ، فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: «ادْنُوَا فَكُلُوا» فَأَكَلَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a tray full of fresh dates. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is this?" He said: This is charity for you and your Companions. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Salman! We do not eat charity." So Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) took it away. The next day Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) came with another tray full of fresh dates. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is this tray?" He said: This is a gift. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "Come near and eat." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) ate.
