Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 5965 — Adi bin Hatim came to the Messenger

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father used to maintain ties of kinship, carry the burden of the helpless, and feed people." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did he reach Islam?" He said: "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your father loved to be spoken of, and so he was spoken of."
