It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both): "How will you be when you remain among the worthless dregs of people, whose covenants and trusts have become muddled, and who have differed and become like this" - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) interlaced his fingers. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adopt what you recognise as good and leave what you find objectionable; beware of changing colours in the religion of Allah; concern yourself with your own self, and leave the affair of the common people."
