حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَقَدْ وَهَبَتُ نَفْسِي لَكَ، فَصَمَتَ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ فِيهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا، فَقَالَ: «أَلَكَ شَيْءٌ؟» ، قَالَ: لَا وَاللهِ، قَالَ: «فَهَلْ تَقْرَأُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْئًا؟» قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «فَقَدْ مَلَّكْتُكَهَا بِمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have given myself to you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. Then a man from the Ansar said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you have no need of her, then marry her to me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you have anything?" He said: "No, by Allah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know anything of the Qur'an?" He said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have married her to you for what you have of the Qur'an."
