حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ أَبِي رَوْحٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ جُرْحِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، فَقَالَ: «جُرِحَ وَجْهُهُ، وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ، وَهُشِّمَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ، وَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَغْسِلُ الدَّمَ، وَكَانَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَسْكُبُ عَلَيْهَا بِالْمِجَنِّ، فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ فَاطِمَةُ أَنَّ الدَّمَ لَا يَزِيدُهُ الْمَاءُ إِلَّا كَثْرَةً، أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةَ حَصِيرٍ، فَأَحْرَقَتْهُ حَتَّى صَارَ رَمَادًا، ثُمَّ أَلْزَقَتْهُ بِالْجُرْحِ فَاسْتَمْسَكَ الدَّمُ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the wound of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Uhud, and he said: "His (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed face was wounded, his front tooth was broken, and the helmet was smashed onto his head. Sayyidah Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), was washing away the blood, and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was pouring water over it with a shield. When Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) saw that the water only made the blood flow more, she took a piece of a reed mat and burned it until it became ash, then applied it to the wound, and the bleeding stopped."
