حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ بِمَاءٍ فِي دَرَقَةٍ - يَعْنِي تُرْسًا - يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، فَغَسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجْهَهُ، وَقَالَ: «هَذَا مَاءٌ قَدْ أَسِنَ» - يَعْنِي تَغَيَّرَ - قَالَ: وَأَخَذَتْ فَاطِمَةُ قِطْعَةَ حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهُ وَوَضَعَتْهُ عَلَى جُرْحِهِ
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) brought water in a shield. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his blessed face with it and said: "This water has become foul," meaning its condition had changed. Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) took a piece of a mat, burned it and placed it on his (peace and blessings be upon him) wound.
