Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 5709 — through the same chain; he said

It is narrated through the same chain; he said: On the day of Khaybar, when we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) took the banner and said: "I will give this banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger." The people stretched their necks to see to whom he (peace and blessings be upon him) would give it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), while Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had sore eyes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applied his saliva to his eyes, then gave him the banner, and Allah granted victory at his hands.
