حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمُهَيْمِنِ بْنُ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ: «كُنَّا نَفْرَحُ بِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ، كَانَتْ عَجُوزٌ مِنَّا تُرْسِلُ إِلَى قُضَاعَةَ، فَتَأْخُذُ مِنْ فُرُوعِ السَّلْقِ، فَتَحُسُّ عَلَيْهِ حِفْنَةً مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، فَتَطْبُخُهُ فَتُقَدِّمُهُ إِلَيْنَا، فَنَلْعَقُهَا، فَنَفْرَحُ بِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ لِذَلِكَ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We used to rejoice at the day of Friday. An old woman among us would send (someone) to Quda'ah and take some stalks of chard, then she would put a handful of barley over them and cook it, and serve it to us, and we would lick it up. Because of that we used to rejoice at the day of Friday."
