حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسنِ الْخَفَّافُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ قَالَ: حَضَرْتُ لِعَانَهُمَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنَا ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَا مِنْ تَلَاعُنِهِمَا قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَذَبْتُ عَلَيْهَا إِنْ أَمْسَكْتُهَا، قَالَ: «فَطَلَّقَهَا ثَلَاثًا» ، وَقَالَ: وَاللهِ لَئِنْ كَذَبْتُ، لَقَدْ تَحَمَّلْتُ فِرْيَةً، ثُمَّ مَرَّتْ حَامِلًا، وَكَانَ الْوَلَدُ إِلَى أُمِّهِ
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was present at the li'an (mutual imprecation) of the two of them in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time I was fifteen years old. When the two of them had finished their li'an, the husband said: "O Messenger of Allah! If I keep her, I will have lied against her." The narrator said: So he divorced her with three divorces, and said: "By Allah! If I have lied, then I have taken upon myself the burden of a slander." Then she went away pregnant, and the child was attributed to his mother.
