حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُزَيْقِ بْنِ جَامِعٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ، ثنا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي فِي لَيْلَةٍ قَمِرَةٍ، وَقَدْ أَوْثَقْتُ فَرَسِي، فَجَالَتْ جَوْلَةً، فَفَزِعْتُ، ثُمَّ جَالَتْ أُخْرَى، فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي، وَإِذَا ظُلَّةٌ قَدْ غَشِيَتْنِي، وَإِذَا هِيَ قَدْ حَالَتْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ الْقَمَرِ، فَفَزِعْتُ، فَدَخَلْتُ الْبَيْتَ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ ذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «تِلْكَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ جَاءَتْ تَسْتَمِعُ قُرْآنَكَ آخِرَ اللَّيْلِ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ» وَكَانَ أُسَيْدُ حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ
Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was praying on a moonlit night, and I had tied up my horse. It suddenly started moving once, and I was alarmed; then it moved again, so I raised my head and saw that a canopy had covered me and had come between me and the moon. I was frightened and went into the house. In the morning I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those were the angels who came to listen to your recitation of Surah al-Baqarah in the last part of the night." And Sayyiduna Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) had a beautiful voice.
